1.What do I need to complete my off-grid solar power system ?

A solar panel has to be connected a charge controller to regulate current, and a battery to store the electrical power. You will need adapter kit cables to wire the solar panel(s) and charge controller, and tray cables connecting the charge controller to a deep-cycle battery.

2. Why is my solar panel under producing ?

Solar panel performance may be hindered for a number of reasons. Most commonly environmental conditions such as indirect sunlight, temperature rise, cloudy sky, and dirt and stain build up on the top glass will cause a reduced power output.

3. How should I connect solar panels in my electrical circuit (series vs parallel)

It depends on your electrical circuit size and power demand. Connecting solar panels in series: add up their operating voltage output, while system current output will be the same as that for one panel. Connecting solar panels in parallel: individual panels operating current output add up to the system output current, while system output voltage will be the same as of one solar panel. To meet the optimum power output and system rating for your power system, you can use both parallel and series connections.

4. How many solar panels do I need ?

The best way to gauge how many solar panels you need, is to understand and define the power load needed from this system. Power is measured in Watts, and capacity is commonly measured in Watt-hours (multiplying power output in watts by the required number of hours of operation multiplied by a safety factor of 1.5-2). Therefore, it is wise to size your battery bank first based on the minimum required capacity, and accordingly decide how many panels or how much power input is needed.

5. Can I walk on flexible solar panels?

We suggest not. Walking on solar panels will exert excessive pressure on a small area, it may cause cracks and damage to the panel.

6. How to clean solar panels?

You can clean the panels with a non-abrasive sponge and water. We suggest regular maintenance to wipe the dust, sand, and other dirt away. Built-up dirt and stain will reduce the power output of the panel.

Easy to mount on my trailer front window shade which is plastic and articulated up to the sun

    Posted by donindivi0 on Aug 1st 2023

Easy to mount on my trailer front window shade which is plastic and articulated up to the sun. Light but solid to bolt to secure. Immediately after installation it is generating power. 475 watts fully charges my 200 AH lithium battery. 3 panels of mixed voltage are 200+100+175 =475

    Easy installation on boat

Posted by Kevinak on Jul 6th 2022

These flex panels are fantastic! I bought two of them for the pilothouse of my boat as a "first try" at solar. Installation was as easy as drilling 6 holes in the roof of my boat and installing screws to hold the panels down, plus two additional holes per panel for the wires. The panels rated at a total of 325 watts were quickly producing well over 200 watts total on a hazy day in Washington state, along the ocean. I'm buying another set of panels this month and could not be more happy.

    175 watt flexible solar panel

Posted by Sparkle on Jun 25th 2022

Well made product. Works as advertised. Easy to install on camper roof. Paralleled with two 50 watt panels for a combined maximum system power of 269 watts. This is pretty good for a mixed size solar panel system.

Perfect for a WV Eurovan Camper

Posted by KC in Idaho on Mar 29th 2022

Just what we needed! It charges very quickly and we found a creative location to store it in our 1997 WV Eurovan Camper. When we park where the windshield is facing the sun, we lay the panel across the windshield. This solar panel gives our lithium batteries more than enough charge to run our refrigerator, lights and USB ports when we are not plugged into electricity.

    Work well

    Posted by madams144 on Mar 26th 2022

Weight was my concern and reason for purchase. Bought 4. They work well and produce the power as advertised. Issue I have is with mounting, I had to use 3” eternabond tape to tape down to the rubber roof of our 5th wheel rv. The dislike is I would have preferred to actually mount it using the 6 eyelets on the panels. I could have rigged some roof mount system but the eyelets are too small for the standard “strut” systems. The eyelets only allow #10 size bolts. It would be better it they would accept 1/4 -20 bolts. So Renogy should either “engineer” some mount system so the panels are removable and can be affixed to rv roofs, or increase the eyelet hole size to accept industry standard bolt hardware so we the end user can engineer a removable mount system.
